Desperately Seeking Skirt

Hi guys, how are you? I'm super excited to kick off the start of a long holiday weekend, not to mention the unofficial beginning of summer!:)

I'm so sorry that I missed out on this skirt at last week's mega-sale, and I'm turning to my readers for some assistance. If any of you see a size 4 of the Dreaming in Green skirt at your store, can you put it on hold in my name, then either post here or email me at chrissieb@att.net?

I'd be forever grateful to you guys! You've helped me out with so many great buys in the past...I'm confident that you can help once again!:)

Have a fabulous evening and I'll be back soon. Be sure to check back this weekend for some more fitting room reviews.

Cute New Anthropologie Items

Hi ladies, hope you're all doing well on this fine Wednesday evening. Only 2 more days until the holiday weekend is upon us.:) I, for one, am desperately in need of this three-day weekend! My mind is already filled with images of long, lazy days, barbecues, and whatever fun in the sun I can participate in.:)

I see that Anthropologie introduced some new items today. Have to say, for once, I'm not in love with most of them. I feel like I'm seeing the same styles reworked each month, with maybe a new color or type of sleeve thrown in to make things appear new and unique. There are a couple of cute things that caught my eye, though.

I really love the Time Gone By Dress by Maeve. Featuring a lovely, soft peach color, this sweet little thing offers a modern twist on a vintage-style dress. I adore the fluttery sleeves and the swingy circle skirt. Can't tell if the trim and belt are black or dark brown, but the contrast against the light color fabric is lovely. My only concern is if this light shade will wash out my fair complexion. Only one way to tell...look for a fitting room review on this one!:)

RicRac's Ring of Bows Tank is also swoon-worthy. Navy, polka dots, and ribbons??? Sign me up!!!!

How about you guys, did anything grab your attention? Did I miss something amazing? Let me know what you're liking (or disliking) these days!

ModCloth Masterpiece

I've written about Modcloth.com before, as I just ADORE this online store. I've ordered several cute, Anthropologie-esque items from them, and have been pleased with every purchase. Great prices and decent quality, for the most part. Some people complain about the fit of the garments, but I've honestly never had any issues.

I came across this amazing little number while browsing their site this evening. Of course, like most of their cutest items, this one is currently sold out, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they restock it. I've seen the dress before in another color/pattern, so I think I have a decent shot of bringing this one home someday.

Isn't it just adorable? The product name is called the About the Author Dress and at just under $53, it's a very affordable alternative to the higher priced dresses sold at Anthropologie.

I love the ruffled bodice and fit-and-flare shape of this dress. Looks like it would be super flattering on a wide variety of body types, nipping gently at the waist while gracefully flaring out at the hips to camouflage any trouble areas.

Please, ModCloth, bring this one back in stock so more of us can enjoy it!

Nordies Purchase

Hey everyone, hope you're all having a great weekend! Can't believe that Sunday afternoon is here already. Sigh. Where does the time go????

Well, on a brighter note, I purchased a really cute new dress from Nordstrom! Yes, after several disappointing experiences with new Anthropologie items recently, I decided to hit up some other stores and see how I fared. I came home with this little number, Maggy London's Print Matte Jersey Dress.

I think it's simply adorable! I love the contrast of the gorgeous flowers against the solid dark background, and it looks super swingy and comfy to boot! Perfect for the summer.

What do you think, ladies, do you like it? What sort of retail therapy did you embark upon this weekend? Do share the details!:)

Hinterland Dress Review

Hi dolls, how are you? Hope you're having a great weekend so far! I was so excited to finally get some time to visit Anthropologie once again. I was on a mission, ladies. I've been eyeing that lovely new Rebekah Maylses Hinterland Dress since it first appeared online a week ago. Alas, it sold out immediately, but I was bound and determined to track it down at a local store.

I made a few calls and was very happy to learn that it was at the 5th Avenue store in a variety of sizes. I practically flew downtown, nearly plowing down crowds of tourists in my path.;)

I was really hoping this dress would work for me. By all online appearances, this had the makings of the perfect dress. A gorgeous pattern, comfortable material, a super sexy shape to show off an hourglass figure...but in person, it wasn't QUITE the dream dress that I envisioned. It wasn't terrible, but it wasn't "to die for," either.

My main issue was the fit on the bottom. See, ladies, I am a pretty slim girl all around, but my booty could give J Lo or Kim Kardashian a run for their money. I first tried on a size 0 and the fit on top was perfect, but I could barely pull the skirt over my behind. If I took one step, that dress would have torn right in half! Only half-kidding there. I was really hoping for better luck with the 2, but it just wasn't meant to be. It basically fit all right on top (slightly big, but I could have lived with it), but I felt like my butt was on display. I mean, it was stretching the limitations of that fabric big time. Feeling desperate, I tried on the 4 and it was way too big. I would have needed $70 in alterations to make it work, and I fear it would have changed the shape of the dress.

So, despite the pretty print, I sadly had to leave this one at the store. Sigh. It sounds really silly, but I feel so letdown when I pin my hopes on a dress and it doesn't work out.

Hope you all have better luck with your must-have items. Let me know if you found something amazing!

New Anthropologie Reviews!!!

Hey everyone, hope you are enjoying a beautiful weekend! NYC is experiencing more lovely Spring weather, and I made sure to get outside for some fun in the sun. Of course, the weekend would not be complete without a stop at my favorite store, Anthropologie!!!! I went back to the Chelsea Market location and was pleasantly surprised to see tons of stuff that I've been eyeing online.

Let's get started with Maeve's Impressionist's Dream Dress. I've been salivating over this one ever since it hit the website. What a glorious combination of colors and SUCH a pretty floral pattern!

Based on earlier reviews on other blogs, I made sure to size down to a zero. I found the overall fit to be pretty nice, although the front tended to flop a little around the bust...nothing a little safety pin can't fix, however! I wasn't entirely blown away by this dress, though. Something about the fit seemed a bit boxy and a little "off." However, there's no denying that it's a pretty dress and I may pick it up if/when it hits the sale rack!

I really couldn't wait to try on the Graphical Dress by Edme & Esyllte. I was super excited to see that it comes in both a vibrant, bold blue shade and a coral/teal color combo. My heart was set on the blue version, but it turns out that I like both of them so much, I really can't decide which one to bring home. (Please don't even think of encouraging me to buy both! My wallet can't handle it!;))

I've also been really intrigued by the Fresh Current Dress by Girls from Savoy. Now, the boyfriend tells me that the pattern is too busy, but you know what? I loved it! The color combination is really pretty, featuring a lovely palette of blue, green, and peach shades. I also adore the wide straps and the shape of this dress, although I felt it would look better belted or with some slight alterations to nip in the waist a bit more. What do you think, readers, do you like it? Hate it? Weigh in with your opinion and help me decide whether or not to bring this one home!

Almost as an afterthought, I grabbed this oldie but goodie, the Tracy Reese Speckled Ink Dress, now available in 2 new colors, dark gray and purple. I decided to try on the purple version, and ended up really liking the look of this.

I tried on a small based on my experience with the earlier blue version (which seemed to be ill-fitting and run ridiculously tiny), but this one seemed to fit so much better. The length was a bit longer and the cut was better overall. The soft purple shade was really pretty and went well with my blue eyes. On the downside, the material is pretty flimsy, so I'm still not convinced that this is something that I NEED to have, but maybe when it goes on sale...

Since I was running out of time, I grabbed multiple pieces and threw them all on at once. I've been dying to try on the gorgeous little Elevated Eyelet Blazer by Tiakonhu, and it did not disappoint. In fact, it's even prettier in person. The greens and pinks in the fabric have more of a "pop" than the photos convey, and the fit was great. I tried it on with Girls from Savoy's Gyroscope Skirt (took a size 0 in both items), which was also really cute. I love the bold graphic pattern and the soft pastel shades on this skirt. It did fit a bit snugly, so I may try the size 2 before opting to buy.

I almost squealed with glee when I spotted Deletta's Fallings Fleur Tank on display. I grabbed the pink version, which is more of a dusty rose shade. Oodles and oodles of ruffles and flowers adorn the front of this lovely frock...it was love at first sight, or so I thought. When I tried this on, I was very disappointed. The color really seemed to wash me out, and I felt like I was drowning in all the details in the front. I'm all for embellishment, but this was ridiculous. Very messy and sloppy looking, so it wouldn't make a great layering piece, at least in my humble opinion. Gonna have to pass this one up ladies, but maybe some of you will like it better than I did.

I'll end this set of reviews with a look at the Windy Dunes Cardigan by Moth. I tried this on in the beautiful turquoise shade. The only good thing I can say about this sweater is that the color is jaw-droppingly gorgeous. I was not impressed at all with the look and fit. I tried on an XS and found that it hung off my narrow frame in all the wrong places, resulting in a sloppy, ill-fitting appearance. I wish Anthro would make more items in this color, though!

Well, ladies, what do you think? See anything on here that you like? Don't be shy, drop me a line and let me know!:)

Off to enjoy what's left of the weekend. I'll be back soon to discuss more great fashion!

SKIRT FOR SALE

Hi darlings, hope you're all off to a great start this weekend!

I ordered this cute little skirt from DownEast Basics after seeing it on another blogger. It really looked cute on her, and it's a decent knockoff of Anthropologie's Scalloped Clouds Skirt by Floreat. This version comes in navy and pink, but I chose the pink because it's summer. The sizing was supposedly standard, so I ordered my usual size 2...oy vey! What a mistake! This skirt was SO tiny! I could barely pull it up over my hips, and I had to wrangle with the zipper for about 5 minutes to zip this baby up. I looked and felt like I was in a sausage casing. NOT a good look at all.

If there is a tiny girl out there who is interested, I'm selling this for $25, which includes the price of shipping. It really is a cute skirt, but the fit is for someone without much going on in the hips and behind. Just shoot me an email and let me know!

Notice how similar it is to the Floreat version (shown below) sold at Anthropologie earlier this year? DownEast Basic's version is longer and less A-line, however.

Making Space In My Closet...

Hey lovelies, hope your week is going well. Are we all excited about the new releases from Anthropologie or WHAT????!!! I'm going to have to do some serious spring cleaning to make room for all the new cuties that I plan to bring home with me. We all have our favorite items, but I MUST find a way to make these babies mine!!!

Fallings Fleur Tank by Deletta. Especially love the pink version! Ruffles and flowers adorn the front of this gorgeous cotton tank. I'm in love!!!

I just love the vintage feel to the Weisshorn Blouse by Girls from Savoy. The navy Swiss dot pattern and blooming daisies create one beautiful-looking top. I can just imagine this paired with a sexy, sleek pencil skirt.

RicRac's Dawn Break Top is simply lovely in this soft shade of Sky Blue. The airy knit fabric should prove to be cool and comfortable for the summertime, and I just adore the little ruffles on the sleeves.

Moving away from tops, I fell in love with the silky pastel Gyroscope Skirt by Girls from Savoy.

If the Rock Slide Skirt by Odille doesn't prove to be too overwhelming for my petite frame, this could potentially be an amazing addition to my wardrobe. I love the various shades of blue and the ruffled tiers.

The Undercurrent Dress by Moulinette Soeurs really caught my attention. Featuring an eye-catching array of colors (ivory, electric jade, and aubergine), this lovely silk dress would be perfect for those warm summer days.

Well, folks, those are my current favorites. Feel free to share with me what you hope to bring home one day soon!:)

Fabulous Fashion Finds

Hello to all my darling readers! Well, the weekend is finally here and I finally have a moment to catch my breath and browse online for amazing new fashion finds! Anthropologie continues to churn out one gorgeous new item after another. Check out some of the latest additions that have been added over the past day or two...

I am just LOVING the Shady Wisteria Blouse by Leifsdottir! As usual, the price is crazy expensive, hovering just below the $200 mark, but I think this is simply gorgeous! I love the soft blue shade and pattern, not to mention the amazing cut-outs along the neckline and in the back of the top. Very unique and feminine, and would look beautiful paired with a flowy white skirt. The cotton smocking in the back should also allow for a comfortable fit along the waistline, as well.

This next offering is the super cute Graphical Dress by Edme & Esyllte. Hued of an amazing shade of blue, this dress features a nice pop of color at the waist and a sweet little bow in the back. The cut and fabric appear to be very functional and comfortable for a hot summer day. Definitely adding to my Wish List.

Deletta's Unveiled Tank offers a lovely departure from the run-of-the-mill, everyday tank top. This one comes in 4 pretty colors, including two that are striped, so it's hard for me to pick my favorite...I think I need all four, lol!:) The ruching along the neckline and arms is just breathtaking. LOVE!

Now, these next 2 may have been out for a bit longer, but somehow I didn't see them until today.

First up is this gorgeous little top by Fei, the Cozy Mallow Blouse. This lovely cream blouse features an adorable floral eyelet pattern and slubby jersey material under the arms to ensure a comfortable fit. I need this one in my life! I'm already thinking of all the outfits that I could build around this one simple piece of fashion perfection.:)

This next piece is Odille's Sunday Supper Shirt. This one comes in 2 lovely shades, although I prefer the golden yellow and purple motif the best. Featuring plaid, ruffles and cinched sleeves, this top is both cute and casual and would work well with a skirt or even a pair of jeans.

Whew! Once again, I'm left to wonder how the heck I'm going to save a penny this month! Too many temptations!:)

Have a wonderful weekend and please let me know what you're loving at Anthro these days!

Anthropologie Reviews Galore!

Hi everyone, hope your Monday went well. I have to tell you, mine was quite exhausting...can hardly wait to see how the rest of this week plays out...if I survive it, lol!

As promised, I checked out the lastest addition to the Anthropologie store roster...the Chelsea Market location in NYC...and it was a heavenly experience! The store is so pretty and well-laid out, not to mention well-stocked!!!! They had so many items that I've been dying to try on. I was marching around the store with a mountain of clothes in my arms and a big ol' smile plastered across my face. I was able to do a lot of fitting room reviews for you guys, so without further ado, I present to you my latest list.

First up is the much-hyped Chocolate Chip Dress by Zehavale. When this first appeared on the website, I fell in love with it. The little cocoa squares, the name that invokes images of my favorite dessert of all time...but then I started reading other blog reviews that were less than favorable. I had very low expectations for this one when I put it on...but readers, I LOVE THIS DRESS! I am in 100% agreement with those of you who pointed out that the material is flimsy and quite scratchy. However, I think the look of the dress is simply adorable!!!! I tried this on in size 0 and the fit was absolutely perfect. It's really simple and chic, and it also has a big ol' bow in the back, which I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE. I must find a way to bring this one home with me!!!!!

Next, I thought I'd give Floreat's Anchors Away Dress a try. Yellow is a tricky color for my complexion, and this dress wasn't quite the bright marigold shade that I was hoping for, but it was cute nonetheless. I tried on the 0 and it fit me perfectly. I can even live with the white "pitchfork effect" on the bodice of the garment. Wouldn't pay full price, but I would definitely snap up this cutie if it ever goes on sale.

I moved on to a great little Moulinette Soeurs number, the Island Getaway Dress. I was immediately drawn to the colorful print and the amazing belt that cinches the waistline. The pattern is a little busy for my taste, but I can see how this would work as a great little go-to piece on a sunny, tropical getaway. I tried on the 0 and the overall fit was good. The killer for me were the ropes that help to hold up the "girls." I found them very uncomfortable and I'm all about ease and comfort when selecting the perfect vacation dress. Pass for me, but still a really cute dress!

I was over-the-moon with excitement when I spotted the Sweet Shoppe Dress by Maeve taunting me from the racks across the floor. This is one that I've really been salivating over and dying to try on. Guess what, it was the most overrated thing I've tried on in ages!!!! I was soooo disappointed! My goodness, I would feel foolish wearing this outside my home. I'm a fairly petite girl (only 5'4"), and this felt like a little nightgown. It's sweet and adorable with the candy-striped bodice and tiered ruffle skirt, but I really felt like I should be lounging on satin sheets, not jetting about town on a hot summer day. I tried on the size 2, as the 0 would have been super tight and binding in the bosom. This one is just really not my style on any level. PASS!!!

I also grabbed another Zehavale dress off the rack that I instinctively knew would never work out for me...and I was so correct! It's called the Hovering Dots Dress and this was the size 0. I adore the airy, floaty, ivory eyelet skirt and the polka dot bodice, but the cut of this dress was wrong for me on so many levels. Would be cute as a maternity dress, but definitely not for me!

Next up is a combination of 2 items that I absolutely adore. Here we have the size 0 Picture Frame Blouse by Odille paired with the Penciled Ambronia Skirt (no longer available online, but there were tons at the store in all sizes). Oh, how I love this dreamy green combo! The blouse fit me absolutely perfectly and looked super sexy with the size 2 pencil skirt. Gotta grab both of these items up before they're completely sold out in my size. I actually loved the top so much, I plan to pick it up in the gorgeous Sky Blue shade, as well.

I also managed to squeeze in (literally) a review of We Love Vera's Sketched Danios Dress. I really love the look of this dress. Even the fish don't creep me out TOO much. I thought I grabbed a size 2 and could barely put this on. No joke, I felt like I was in a sausage casing. Turns out that I mistakenly grabbed the zero. My booty is way too bodacious for this baby, but it's a very cute dress and I may give it a whirl in a bigger size.

I'll leave off now with this pretty, pink ruffled number, the Nexus Top by Deletta. I had high hopes for this top, but it didn't quite work out for me. I tried on the extra small and while I thought the details were lovely and amazing, the fit was way off. It was too large all around, plus it seemed to pull away from my body in a bizarre way on the left side. The symmetry was completely off. Too bad, because at just under $70, it's an affordable little piece in comparison with most Anthro items. Maybe it would work better on someone with a wider torso.

Whew, I'm exhausted all over again! Trying on all these clothes is WORK, lol. The one dress that I was dying to buy hadn't even made it to the store yet...Maeve's Impressionist Dream dress in those exquisite shades of teal and green. Maybe next week!

I hope everyone thoroughly enjoyed these reviews. Please let me know your thoughts! Have a fantastic evening!!!!
