Anthro, you know I love you, but WHY???!!!!!!

Hello, my lovely readers! Hope your week is going well so far. Mine's been a little hectic, so I'm just relaxing and unwinding this evening, hoping to find some great new items as I browse the web for early fall fashion.

Now, girls, you know I love me some Anthropologie. I'd put every dime of my paycheck into that store if I could get away with it, lol. HOWEVER, sometimes, every once in a blue moon, they put out an item that truly makes me scratch my head.

This is one of those items. Now, please don't be offended if you happen to like it. I realize that my taste may differ from yours, and the great thing about a store like Anthro is that they sell such a wide variety of items; truly something for everyone.

That being said, WTF is up with this Cathedral Windows Dress and why is it over $400?????????????????????? I realize it's an Anna Sui design and it has some pretty elements (I guess), but the style looks atrocious!!! Readers, I am not understanding this one at all! I cannot imagine this dress being flattering on any body type, from rail thin to curvy.

Anyone agree with me on this one? To my eyes, it looks like a carpet bag or a design experiment gone very, very wrong.

  1. I laughed when I read this. I'd have to agree that this is reminicent of a mu mu of some kind. I think my aunties in China would love this on a hot, humid summer's day though. Definitely not my cuppa tea.

  2. LOL, too funny. It does look like a mumu. I'm also a little WTF? about their new "out-and-about lounge" email... sorry, but lounge and out and about should not go together...looks like PJs.

  3. This made me laugh because I had the exact same reaction about this dress! I even brought my friend from work into my office today to show her this $400+ 'velvet wonder' so that we could wonder WTF together!

  4. LOL, I thought the exact same thing when I saw this dress on the site this morning. It's seems so much more frumpy and unflattering (and expensive!) than anything they've offered in a while!

  5. the only way i could see it is if it were worn belted and blousy on top (which wouldn't be hard to do)with skinny jeans and pair of slammin' stilettos. the price it a bit ridiculous though.

  6. Aimee, I could never spend that crazy amount of money for a tunic, lol. I think it would be too long for skinny jeans anyway, at least for my taste. My legs would look about 2 inches long if I threw that on over pants.

  8. ummm, I totally own that dress. It's adorable. it totally covers me up and shows off none of my figure. Someone once thought I was a piece of wallpaper while wearing it.

Juuuuust kidding. I love finding ugly things in stores - or, more recently, my favorite thing has been going in to forever 21 and finding things they claim are dresses, and discovering they barely pass my belly button. I have no clue what designers are thinking some times!

thanks for stopping by my corner of the internet, I just added you to my google reader!

  10. Ashley, for real!!!!!! on those Forever 21 dresses! My god, those things make beach coverups look long. I can't believe I used to wear those little outfits with such pride back in the day.:)

  11. Hmm, I'd love to see that dress on some bloggers, just to see if it is possibly more flattering in real life than it seems in the picture. I don't know, though ... the design is a bit out there, I'm with ya on that one. :/

  12. OMG, we were going to do our "Questionable item of the week" based on this dress. So since you already did it, we might have to review the Night Poppy Crop pants on vurbanity. I love our readers, but pay me I would not photograph myself in them. :-)

  13. I agree Chrissy! I love the majority of their items, but sometimes I just scratch my head to think that people would pay such crazy prices for some of those questionable pieces. You're not alone :)
