Pretty in Purple

Hey everyone, hope you're all enjoying a wonderful weekend! I apologize for the lack of posts lately, but I've been feeling soooooooooooooo unmotivated this past week! I feel like I'm in a slump. Must be all of this freezing cold, dreary winter weather that seemingly has no end in sight. Sigh.

Well, to perk up my mood, I attempted to escape the doldrums by doing a little window shopping online. I've been on the prowl for a purple dress, and think I just may have found the right one to bring home. You see, readers, I simply adore bright, bold colors. I may live in NYC, land of the black, gray and neutral fabrics, but there's nothing like color to instantly perk up my mood.

Purple has always been one of my favorite colors. I adore all of the lovely shades, from deep, dark plums to rich raspberry hues, to vibrant jewel tone shades of royal purple, and everything in between.

I came across this dress by Adrianna Papell on Nordstrom's website, and am seriously considering pulling the trigger. I think it will work well with my light hair and complexion, and the vibrant shade will hopefully make my blue eyes pop. I also love the ruffled sleeves and belt that cinches in the waistline.

What do you think, do you ladies like it???

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

  1. Dear Chrissy, This is an extraordinary dress. The color is certainly stunning. The cut is definately a flattering one for you. Any particular occasion for such a gorgeous number? Or is this just to perk up your Winter Duldrums. You could go Basic Black accessories for everyday, or a splash of Silver or Gold for a Holiday Party. I think it's perfect for you.

  2. Thanks so much, Laura! While I could certainly wear this for special occasions, it's more a winter pick-me-up, LOL. I like the idea of wearing it to a holiday party, as well.

  3. Oooh yes purple is my favourite colour and this dress is a stunner! I am not familiar with Nordstrom, is it affordable? Either way it looks perfect for party season and I think will really make your blue eyes stand out :)

  4. Lovely shade and a great silhouette! Now you just need a sunny, lilac-strewn suburban street to stroll down...

    Oh, sunshine...

  5. Thanks for the feedback, folks!

Louise, Nordstrom is very popular in the U.S. and you can find both affordable and expensive items there.

  6. Oh! I recognise the first editorial picture. It's from Australian Marie Claire. The dress is by Aurelio Costarella (Australian designer). I remember that i bought that dress by had to return it as it was just TOO expensive (it was $700 AUD!). I couldn't justify it even though it was beautiful.
The Nordstrom dress is gorgeous and it's such a beautiful colour. Go for it! I'm sure you will look stunning in it Chrissy

  7. Oh, that Nordstrom dress is gorgeous. I do think the color will look wonderful on you. The exaggerated flutter on the sleeves is lovely. I would probably try to get away with wearing this beauty to work -- with a buttoned-up cardi, so it would just look like a pencil skirt with sheen : )

  12. I appreciate your honesty. I think a lot of us feel that way at this time of year. The days are only getting longer now that the solstice is over. That always makes me feel better. I, too, adore the colour purple in an evening dress. And the smell of lavender.
