Weekend Fitting Room Reviews

Hi out there to all my lovely readers! I hope you're enjoying a wonderful weekend thus far. I'm kicking back and relaxing on this gray, cloudy Sunday...catching up on some much-needed R&R before the craziness of another work week is upon us.

As promised, I made my way over to Anthropologie yesterday to scout out the latest goods. I was a bit disappointed, I have to admit. Seemed like the store was pretty picked over and I didn't see a ton of new merchandise; at least not much that caught my eye. I didn't see that gorgeous new Anna Sui lace inset dress that I raved about in my last post, either.

I grabbed a few things that DID catch my attention and made my way to the dressing room. So, without further ado, here's my take on these cute items...and yeah, please excuse the flash in every photo. I desperately need a new camera, and find that without using the flash on this one, I can't see any of the detail on the garments that I photograph.

First up, I was pleasantly surprised to come across this whimsical Girls from Savoy pastel dot dress that has yet to appear on the website. After seeing it reviewed by another blogger last week, I've been dying to check it out for myself. However, I couldn't find both a size 0 and a 2 (I usually like to try on both sizes at Anthro), so I had to stick with reviewing the smaller size. Normally in this brand, this is not a problem, but I could barely zip the 0 up around my ribcage and once I did, it was very uncomfortable. Maybe the 2 would have worked out better, but I wasn't sold on the shape of the dress. I do like the cute little polka dots on the pattern, but find that the color scheme didn't really work well with my milky complexion. This could be cute on someone with a darker or more olive complexion, though, but I'm going to have leave this one on the rack. Pass.

"Cooling Palette Dress" by Girls from Savoy

Next up, I tried on the vibrant, colorful cotton floral Homegrown Dress by Moulinette Soeurs. It looked super pretty on the rack, but that's where I should have left it, lol. Readers, if you have a petite frame, this dress will NOT work for you on any level. I tried on the size 0 and was literally swimming in this frock! So disappointing, because the pattern is really lovely and so fresh for the summer. I zipped it up and the fabric was gaping along the bodice...I literally had 2 or 3 inches of extra material on each side of my waist. Also, the skirt was so large and poufy, I looked like I was ready to take flight, lol. Strike Two.

Pretty pattern, but this looked like a circus tent on my small frame.

I was starting to feel really annoyed by the time I tried on this third dress. Was I going to strike out completely here? It's so rare for me to go into the fitting room and walk away empty-handed!!!! Never fear, though, readers...this dress improved my mood immensely! It's another lovely offering from Girls from Savoy, which is quickly becoming one of my favorite Anthropologie brands.

Behold, the Traced Twirls Dress. I felt absolutely amazing in this one. It truly has a vintage movie star glamour about it, and the fit is sublime. I love how it nips in at the waist, giving the illusion of being teeny-tiny, then flares out at the hips in the classic A-line shape. I didn't even mind the length of this, although it's longer than I normally prefer my dresses to fall on my 5'4" frame. I definitely MUST get this one when I get paid!

Excuse the boots...not trying to go for the Cowgirl look here. I really must remember to wear heels when I hit up these fitting rooms!:)

Last but not least, I did manage to find that new green cardigan from Wendi Reed that I've been coveting ever since it first appeared online a few weeks ago. Called the Blooming Lattice Cardigan, it also comes in navy, but I didn't even bother to try on that shade, as my closet is already jam-packed with all shades of blue.

I really love this little sweater!!! The green is such an eye-popping, amazing shade and the lattice and leaves detailing along the neckline is adorable. Aside from the fact that it's definitely a cropped sweater (fine for me, but taller gals beware), it runs really, really small. This one was even smaller than the Felted Lei Cardigan that I bought back in December, same brand.

I would probably take this in a small instead of my usual XS, but may even try a medium before making the final decision. If you have average to large size "girls," you may find that this sweater pulls the snaps open along the bustline. That being said, I really do love this and think it would be adorable over a couple of my airy summer dresses.

Whew, that was quite a session of reviews. Hope you enjoyed it, and I'll be back later to dish the dirt on more great fashion! Have a great day!

Oh, Pretty Little Dress...You Will Be Mine!!!!

Hi out there to all my lovely readers! I hope you're kicking off the start to another great weekend! I plan to head over to my local Anthropologie store to check out what's new and beautiful!:) Look for some fitting room reviews to follow shortly.

Of course, I check Anthro's website constantly to see what new additions have crept up, and I came across an absolutely GORGEOUS, STUNNING new Anna Sui dress that I must have!

It's called the "Rising Battenberg Dress" and it is truly lovely. I am such a sucker for anything with lace, and this dress has some amazing details! The lovely cream/pink color combination adds a feminine air without being too "precious," in my opinion. From its scalloped hemline to the intricate lace embroidery, this silky charmeuse dress has everything going for it. The price is insane, though, clocking in at $288. I'll have to see if this looks as good in person before forking over some serious cash for it.

Okay, everyone, I'm off to explore the latest finds. I'll be back in a jiffy to show you my latest reviews!

Anthropologie Painted Porcelain Tee For Sale

Hello, my lovely readers! Hope you're all enjoying your weekend. It's another absolutely perfect day here in NYC...clear, sunny skies, warm temps with a light, cool breeze...can't wait to get outside to enjoy every moment of it!!!

On a completely unrelated note, I have decided to sell this lovely little top that I purchased from Anthropologie about a month back. It really is adorable, but I realized that I'm not going to get enough use out of it to make it a worthwhile purchase. It's a size XS and has never been worn outside the store dressing room. Would look simply adorable with a pair of jeans for a fun, casual look.

I'm asking $30 shipped. If you're interested, please email me at chrissieb@att.net and let me know!

Have a fabulous time out there today!

Back from the Void

Hi guys, I'm soooo sorry that I've been MIA for the past week or so...it's been a crazy life, lol!

I'm so excited to see the Spring weather here in full force this weekend...NYC is experiencing some amazing weather and I intend to enjoy each and every minute of it!

I've been a little low on cash lately, so I haven't been able to splurge on any pretty new things, but here's what I plan to buy when I get my next paycheck.

Behold, the lovely, crisp, clean Beda dress from Anthropologie!!!

The website photos do not appear to do this dress justice...there are some lovely details along the bodice and throughout the dress that do not photograph well.

I just think white dresses are so fresh and pretty for warm weather, so I really want this one to work out for me!

It's getting fab reviews online, so I can't wait to see it in person. Hasn't hit the NYC stores yet, at least not that I've seen.

Have any of you had a chance to try this one on? If so, please let me know if you're happy with it, how it fits, etc. I'm on the fence as to whether or not I should size down to a 0.

Have a fabulous weekend and Happy Shopping!:)

Awesome Etsy Find!

Hello, lovely readers, hope everyone is doing well. Sorry for the lack of posts these past few days, but my schedule has been insanely busy.

Tonight, I just wanted to kick back and unwind, so I headed over to Etsy to check out the gorgeous, one-of-a-kind, handmade jewelry that never fails to catch my eye. I tend to get almost overwhelmed on Etsy...so many amazing things to choose from, often at very reasonable prices!!

Check out this great little shop called divinerose that I came across this evening. She has some of the prettiest pieces and incorporates vintage charms and beads from around the world in her beautiful designs.

Here's a small sampling of some items that I fell in love with...

Head on over and pick up a great piece for yourself, or treat a friend/family member to some amazing, affordable jewelry. Don't be afraid to mention that you heard about the shop on this blog!:)

Enjoy the rest of your evening!

Amazing Oscar Fashion

Hello, readers, how are you? I hope everyone had a lovely weekend. Our weather was absolutely gorgeous today, so I really enjoyed my day.

Of course, as everyone knows, tonight is the Academy Awards ceremony. I'm not a huge fan of award shows, as I find them too long and boring to sit through, but I always love to check out what the "beautiful people" are wearing. I've seen some horror shows so far tonight, but I've also spotted some amazing Red Carpet looks that deserve accolades...

Check out these lovely ladies below. These are my favorite "looks" so far tonight...

Cameron Diaz sparkles and glows in this lovely golden gown. I'm loving her long, tousled tresses, too...very vintage glamour at work here.

Demi Moore looks absolutely gorgeous, as well. Can you even believe that this woman is 47-years-old? Sure, she may have had some "help" along the way, but she is still a knockout.

I just LOVE this beautiful, nude color dress that she's wearing. The fitted bodice and ruffled skirt are to die for...this gown fits her to perfection. Neutral shades are all the rage this spring, so she's following all the right trends.

Getty

Another lady who looks absolutely lovely this evening is Sandra Bullock. Can't say that this is my favorite dress of the night, but it's definitely a classy, pretty gown and the overall look is quite beautiful.

Getty

Finally, a pop of color appears!!! I love the Bordeaux shade of Penelope Cruz's dress. The only thing missing is a brighter lipstick shade to make her pretty features stand out a bit more.

Getty

I love the design of Amanda Seyfried's gown. It's really a throwback to old Hollywood Glamour. I'd like it even more if the color was just a bit more saturated, but it's a lovely look nonetheless.

Well, readers, I hope you enjoy what's left of this lovely evening! Have fun drooling over the amazing Oscar fashion!

Gorgeous Springtime Dresses from Nordies

Hi guys, how are you? We're having a lovely weekend here in the Big Apple...sunshine, blue skies, temps on the rise...can't wait for Spring to arrive!!!

You know, I spend so much time obsessing over Anthropologie items, I sometimes feel as though I forget that there are LOTS of stores in the world that have amazingly beautiful items!!!

In search of something new, I headed over to Nordstrom's website and was rendered speechless when I came across all the lovely items! I'm the kind of girl who loves to wear dresses more than anything in this world, so of course, I headed straight for the Women's "Day Dress" section online.

Check out these gorgeous offerings! I'm so excited to see so many fresh, vibrant colors and crisp, tailored lines. I'm getting a little tired of the layering and bulk that often comes along with the winter wardrobe.

Maybe one of you will snap up one of these lovelies on your next shopping splurge!

Have a fabulous weekend!

Please help me locate this Anthropologie dress!

Hi guys, how are you? I really need your help...I'm obsessing over an old Anthropologie dress and I MUST find it! I lost out on this on Ebay about a month ago, and it hasn't reappeared in my size since that time. It's one of the "ones that got away" and I am just kicking myself for not bidding even higher!!!

Here it is, the Organdy Tea Dress by Elevenses from the Spring '05 collection. If anyone has a size 0, 2 or 4 that you would like to sell me, can you let me know ASAP? Contact me at: chrissieb@att.net

I would be willing to pay a very fair price and would be eternally grateful!:)

SALE SCORE OF THE WEEK

Hey readers, how are you? Hope you're all having a lovely week thus far.

Just a quick post tonight to share my latest Anthropologie sale purchase with all of you!!!! I am now the proud owner of the gorgeous Blooming Sapphire Wrap Dress by Moulinette Soeurs. I tried this on a couple of months ago (seen here), and while I loved it, I didn't love the price. Now that it's 50% off, I just had to scoop this one up.

The print is beautiful and the color is amazing!!! It's a very flouncy, "girly-girl" style, but it works for me and my taste.:) It's one of those dresses that looks much better on the body than on the hanger.

Enjoy the rest of your week and soon it will be the weekend again!

More Cute Items from Anthro!:)

Hi guys, how are you? Are you all enjoying the latest round of Fresh Cuts over on the Anthropologie website? So many great items...grab them while you can!!!

I've been seeing a few cute new additions, as well, so I'm going to share a few of my faves...some pretty dresses, adorable tops, etc. Shall we take a look?

I just love, love, LOVE this sweet little tank by Deletta. Such a vibrant, fresh color for summer, and you guys should know by now that I love my flowers...how cute is that rose at the neckline??? It's called the Growing Conditions Tank, and it's priced at $68, which is practically free by Anthropologie's standards, lol!

Next up, we have some pretty new offerings from Leifsdottir. As usual, the prices are absolutely insane, but I do love these and would consider them on sale.

Bamboo Garden Dress by Leifsdottir ($288)

What a brilliant ray of sunshine this little dress is! I just love the bright shade of yellow, the twisty bodice, and the bubble hemline of the skirt. The back of this is the real surprise...definitely can't wear this one to the office, but it's both sweet and sexy with the fabric cutouts and the big bow.

I'm absolutely in love with this next item, Leifsdottir's Gilded Garden Dress ($328). Yikes, this price is too rich for my blood, but I think the lime green print against the embroidered gold waistband is simply breathtaking. The shape of the skirt is very unusual, which could either be good or bad, so I will have to try this one on to decide. The back of the dress also features a peekaboo triangle. So cute, so different!

I'll leave off with something a bit more casual...the Poured Paint Tank. I actually don't see a designer listed along with the product description, but this top is priced at $68 and looks super cute and comfortable! The white jersey fabric is awash with streaks of color...definitely different than your average, ordinary summer tank. The beautiful flower blooms are placed differently on each top, so you truly will own a "one-of-a-kind" item should you choose to bring this one home!

What are your new favorite items? Did you scoop up something amazing on sale? Let me know, I love hearing about your purchases!!
